The breeding season occurs in late spring and early summer; the males can breed every year but the females only breed once every three or four years. After a two-month incubation period, the young turtles hatch and run to the sea, facing attack by a variety of predators (birds, crabs, fish) along the way. They drift at sea until they are about a foot long and then, depending on the species, may move closer to shore to feed. Threats Climate change, the loss of habitat, and diseases such as fibropapilloma—which causes benign but ultimately debilitating epithelial tumors on the surface of biological tissues—threaten green sea turtles today. Sea turtles are protected by a variety of national and state laws and international treaties, but hunting of live turtles and harvesting of eggs is still underway in many places. ECERS for Garnero Child Development Center - 1218 Words

I went into this childcare center knowing that it would do rather well. Garnero Child Development Center is very well run and Ann, the side supervisor, makes sure that everything meets standards. I have seen her in the early mornings observing classrooms with a checklist. When I let the lead teachers know that we would be filling the ECERS out, they knew exactly what it was and both mentioned that they had filled them out multiple times. In the majority of the categories, they scored a seven. I am not sure if I was just being more lenient than I should have been, but the other student filling this out with me got the same scores as I did when we compared them afterwards. For the Space and furnishings category, they received an average of 6.62. Out of the eight sub groups, they received a six on indoor space, child-related display, and gross motor equipment. The other five categories all got sevens. The indoor space got a six because the windows do not open and there is not any control over the ventilation in the room. The child-related display got a six because there is not any three dimensional work done by the children on display in the room. The gross motor equipment got a six because there is not gross motor equipment that would stimulate skills on different levels. There are not any tricycles without pedals, there is not both a ramp and a ladder on the climbing structure, and there is not different sized balls available for the children to play with. I realized that for smooth operation within the organization there is a need to minimize the existing resistance of the organization as well as external organizations (Pugh 2016). In addition, the designing should be such that through innovation there can be a radical change in the organization. I also realized that the focus of any organization is to try to minimize their costs through implementation of new technologies. It is only through constant innovation and up gradation of the existing system that the organization can be successful. The processes like Benchmarking and Lean Six Sigma can be implemented to understand the best practices within the organization (Vaishnavi and Kuechler 2015). Importance of managing process: There has been multi-facets managing process of any organization. After going through the learning outcomes and weekly classes, I realized that for the success of an organization there is a need for strict management system. The primary reason for implementing this is because there has been dearth of resources within an organization. Only a proper strategy that can guide the organization to use these constrained resources optimally (Anderson 2013). I discussed about the system of change management in the earlier stanza. Through that management tool a company can improve the performance of its employees by increasing their engagement within the organization and amongst their own-selves. My views and knowledge of DIIP: After attending all the discussions and participating in the varied range of activities I learnt and could recall few things that are necessary for the growth and expansion of any organization within its domain and even sometimes within intra-domain. Initially from the change management system, the first thing that I could recall is that it includes a complex procedure of involvement and innovation (Hayes 2014). The first thing that a company must do is to involve majority if not all the people within this changed process. The senior level managers and team leads should be responsible for carefully providing detailed information about the existing system and the way it works. In addition, they should be able to highlight the upcoming changes that the company is going to implement within their system. Just by spreading, the information within the employees makes it easier for the company to collect information regarding the acceptability of the new syst em and make the people aware about the changes they are going to face (Aguinis and Bradley 2014). Sharing the information within the group is very important as lack of information might leads to lack of adapting capacity thereby generating failure of the system. Along with it I learnt that the employees can take part in accessing the changed system before it is run in the market. By reviewing the acceptability and adaptability of the system the employees can provide feedback based on which the company can improve their system and then implement its operation in the market. This not only reduces the cost of the company but also saves them from facing failure in the market through direct implementation (Hayes 2014). Using the learning and understanding in workplace I realized that few things might be helpful for me in future. Through this lectures I learnt that bringing in innovation within any part of the organization, involving all my colleagues and juniors and persuading them in accordance with my terms is going to be the key of success. I learnt that grabbing the attention of my colleagues within the organization and persuading or motivating them can be helpful for my success. Persuasion is an art which if mastered can help me to unify the team at one goal (Pugh 2016). A team with diversified vision can seldom stand the fierce competition existing within the market. Henceforth, it is very important for me to learn the art of persuasion through which I can help my team within the organization to be strongly bound and motivated at a fixed goal so that they can produce a better performance. I also learnt that while motivating the team each member should be prioritized irrespective of his or her socio-economic background, age and gender. In addition to this, I learnt that having a substantial knowledge about the statistics and facts about the organization can be helpful for me to stand out in the crowd (Bloom et al. 2014). My coursework also helped me realize that it is important to learn the art of presentation to reach out to the mass. Henceforth, I would try to involve each member of the organization whenever any plan regarding change management is going to be taken. Involving even the junior level employees and newly joined workers is going to help me in creating a strong bond and sense of oneness with them, which can help in generating better ideas and positively influence performance. Bringing in innovation within the system can be helpful in a number of ways like it may reduce the cost of operation within the company, improve the efficiency of work and reduce the time taken to complete any work (Hayes 2014). Tv Cooking Show Essay Ever sit at home with nothing to do? That’s how I feel all the time! Especially when I’m off from school, work, and simply everything. When I have nothing to do, my basic routine is to sit on the couch with my dog and turn on the TV. If Disney Channel is not an option to watch, I would turn to channel fifty-three, the Food Network. Watching the Food Network brightens my knowledge to a variety of cooking. The show taught me how to filet a fish, how to grill a lobster to perfection, and how to make one amazing pork chop. To be honest, without the Food Network shows, I would still be able to cook, but the foods would not be as good and flavorful. If I did not watch any cooking show, the only way for me to cook would be out of my crock pot. My foods without any lessons from the TV would be plain, tasteless, and simple. Being a student at Louisiana Culinary Institute, cooking and baking hold a very promising place in my life. Although it’s out of boredom that I watch the Food Network, cooking and baking is what I do everyday. Growing up I loved watching my mom and grandma do what they do best in the kitchen cooking. Admiring and watching them brought me to my passion in the culinary field. Watching them cook taught me a few things as well. Even though my cooking can not be compared to theirs, it does come pretty close. When I watch the Food Network, my favorite show is â€Å"Diners, Dive-Ins, and Dives† with the host and chef, Guy Fieri. This show is perfect for me because I love to travel and I love to eat. The show is about Guy Fieri’s quest around the world to find the best diners that serve the best foods. Good foods, cheap prices, lay-back locations, and traveling is all that I can ask for, and this show have gotten my vote. Not only do I find out where to eat, I also learn how some of these amazing foods are prepared. What more can I ask for? Every year, traveling is always on my calendar and agenda. When I travel, the most important thing is location, where to eat, and prices. Watching â€Å"Diners, Dive-Ins, and Dives† helps me know where I can go to eat when I’m out of town and help me save money. The thing that is so interesting when I watch Guy Fieri’s show is that anything that I crave for at home, I can make for myself if the restaurant is not around. The show taught me how to cook delicious foods within my price range. Watching the show helps me plan any road-trips much easier. It doesn’t matter where I travel, Guy Fieri can always refer me to a good place to dine.

The Epidemic of Steroid Abuse in America We as a people are preoccupied with the notion of greatness. Our role models are athletes, actors and actresses, and other figures in the public eye. Many of us often desire to be better off than our current state; to look better, to be in better shape, etc†¦ We compete with each other for jobs, for mates, for grades, for parking spots, and in sporting activities. This competitive nature is a way of life, especially in sporting activities, often learned as a child and built upon throughout adulthood. But where do you draw the line? At what point do the â€Å"costs† of winning or being â€Å"better† outweigh the benefits? Maybe it’s too much when you start putting your own health in serious jeopardy just to look better or run faster. The use of steroids, other than for medical purposes, has extremely negative effects on one’s health. Nonetheless the use of steroids, to enhance athletic performance and increase muscle mass, is on the rise. There needs to be mandatory steroid testing in all professional, and where applicable, amateur sports. Steroid testing is a good as start as any to help curb steroid abuse. Anabolic-Androgenic steroids, often solely called anabolic steroids, are: â€Å"chemicals that act like hormones--substances normally in your body that regulate bodily functions† (Kowalski 1). During the course of the years it has been noticed that physical, emotional, and mental levels of 6-9 year old children undergo various stages. It is especially obvious for their teachers and coordinators that possess external evidence about the kids and have ability to truly evaluate them. Unlike teachers and supervisors, parents oftentimes try to justify the decisions and deeds of their small kids and make attempts to â€Å"smooth the edges† to avoid potential conflicts due to their feeling they naturally experience towards their children. Therefore, the representatives of next generation behave differently at home and other social environments like school that include numerous exciting activities useful for children while opening new horizons. The early childhood activity indicated below is based on denominated skills and talents of a certain child and aimed at an outlet of his imaginative and exploratory abilities. Typically, in the process of playing a game, children apply their factual knowledge, which is easier to understand and remember. That’s why it is notable that they use objects or all sorts of materials to assist them in realizing the surrounding environment in which they live and find out more about the characteristics and properties of things they are playing with. In this case, according to the rules of the game called â€Å"Bricks Mix† children are dealing with material objects such as sand, small bricks, or sticks. Preferably, the teachers should conduct the activity outdoors, i. e. in the park, on the beach, in the forest, in the backyard, etc. It would be helpful both for the picture of health of small kids and their better perception of the situation and conditions due to fresh air and active physical exercises. Also, if possible, the supervisor has to conduct the children at first stages giving the instructions and explaining the details of the activity. The latter is divided into two levels. First, using dry or wet sand, bricks of various sizes, short and long sticks, small stones, and water children build houses, roads, and fortresses. After a certain period of time when children get better acquainted with the situation and find themselves comfortable in the given atmosphere it would be a good idea to upgrade the game. Hence, each child individually should be given a card or oral request with a certain task, for instance, to build a house with 3 or 5 towers, to build a sand road with 6 bricks on each side, to make a castle with 4 towers and 4 flags on them, etc. While sifting, pouring, and filling empty containers with sand children get the idea of measurement and may observe visually the phenomenon when 2 small equal bowls of sand make 1 large container. Or if they put together two triangular stones or bricks they will have a rectangle or a square. Here, the major mathematical concepts are applied as the child deals with various shapes and sizes. Also, new terms should be used by the teacher, preferably associated with a certain topic or area of knowledge. The second stage of the game is characterized with using waste materials. It means that after building roads, castles, and houses children are provided with a large amount of things left from which they can make other objects like cars, stores, trains, buses, etc. This part of the game develops the ability to properly organize the process of managing the situation or business using less energy and expenses during the shortest possible period of time. It remains essential for the teacher to follow the work of the children without interfering into the process. It must be a positive sign for him/her when the child starts judging, analyzing, and comparing the results of his on-going work with others. In such a way he demonstrates his/her ability to productively be involved in the activity and learns how to work in team and cooperate with the peers. In order to make the results of the game more effective and have the kids remember the procedure it would be useful to talk in details about the activity afterwards. The coordinator should encourage the children to share their experience and discuss all the aspects of the game even if it causes some disagreements and controversy. Obviously, the debate would take place due to different methods, manners, and techniques applied during the game. The teacher should keep in mind that each and every child should be listened to and heard, which is more important. Some kids would try to prove that their idea or theory is the most optimal for this kind of activity. For example, they would argue that the train should consist of a number of short wagons instead of several longer ones as the first will be better while turning right or left. If the perspective of the child is valid the teacher should unpersuasively explain it to other children. Otherwise, they would undoubtedly feel that the mentioned above child is a favorite student of the teacher. It may not be accepted as a distinct gradation of the children may appear. However, in spite of numerous ideas expressed, it is significant to reach a compromise so no child is left unsatisfied. The reason the game â€Å"Bricks Mix† was developed lies in that this activity comprises several essential aspects of human mind as memory, reflection, counting, etc. It is useful for six-year-old children as well as nine-year-olds because different levels of difficulty may be applied. For example, younger kids may be given easy assignments simply connected with small numbers, while the older ones may be allowed to include other objects into the game. As the latter is rather flexible the teacher can coordinate the game and establish new rules according to abilities, inclinations, and skills of children.
